Portland, OR – A 38-year-old Salem man has been sentenced to  federal prison, after pleading guilty to distributing Child Sex Abuse material online.

Oregon U.S. Attorney Scott Bradford announced Thursday that Robert Andrew Arias was sentenced to 8 years in federal prison, to be followed by 10 years of supervised release, for receiving, distributing, and possessing child pornography.

“This sentence sends a clear message: if you exploit children, we will find you and you will go to federal prison,” said Bradford.

Arias  pleaded guilty to all three charges in August. The investigation, led by the FBI, identified Arias as an active participant in online networks used to exchange illegal material. A federal search warrant executed in December 2023 resulted in the seizure of digital devices later found to contain illicit content.

In addition to the prison term and supervised release conditions, Arias will be required to register as a sex offender and comply with all monitoring and restrictions ordered by the court. The court also ordered the forfeiture of the digital devices used in the offenses.
