With five days remaining until Election Day, the 7th Congressional District contest between incumbent Republican Rep. Ryan Mackenzie and Democratic challenger Bob Brooks continues to be competitive.
But if you believe in the power of the poll, then the Lehigh Valley seat may be on the verge of flipping.
The Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion surveyed 529 likely voters from Oct. 6-15 and its findings show Brooks with a six-point advantage over Mackenzie in the race for the PA-07 seat.
Brooks showed strength with women (55-39%) and persons of color (52-38%), while Mackenzie had his best numbers with males (46-44%) and older residents of the Valley.
Respondents in the Lehigh Valley also signaled their strong support for Gov. Josh Shapiro in his efforts to receive a second term in Harrisburg, as he leads State Treasurer Stacy Garrity by 25 points, 59-34%
Shapiro’s numbers topped 50% in almost every demographic category, including women (65-30%), men (55-37%), white (59-35%) and persons of color (61-31%) voters. Garrity’s best numbers were among Republicans (72-21%) and Trump 2024 voters (71-19%), but she trailed among independents (75-19%).
The following report contains the results of a telephone survey of 529 likely voters in the Pennsylvania 7th Congressional District between October 6 and October 15, 2026. Respondents were interviewed in English on both landlines and cell phones. With a randomly selected sample of respondents the margin of error for the surveys is +/- 5% at a 95% level of confidence. | PDF results
